3 Weeks and counting...

Baby Hawkes is now a little over 3 weeks old.  He is starting to cry more (apparently this is typical), in different ways, and with a much higher volume.  He can now cry, scream, screech, and squeal at multiple decibel levels.  He is so talented and we are just so proud of him.  Luckily he also seems to be getting cuter and cuter.  Here is a recap of his life progression so far...
 ...baby Hawkes as a newborn...
...with a week of air breathing under his belt...
...two weeks and still not sure what to do with his tongue...
...at three weeks and still sleeping like a baby...sometimes.

I am officially in love with this little face!

Even if he poops on me, screams at me in the middle of the night, deprives me of sleep, and has turned me solely into a milk machine...I still love him! How could you not love this sweet face?

Baby's First Christmas!

So I guess we have quite the post today.... Hawkes loved his first Christmas and we have lots of pictures to prove it.
We spent Christmas Eve with the Potters where our little guy got spoiled by his Auntie Cassie and met his Uncle Jeremy for the first time. We are so glad they got to come up for Christmas. Hawkes says thanks for the fun presents!

Pretty sure this is our first family picture.
I could just look at him all day.

Our little family needs a little more sleep.
He was wide awake for most of the night enjoying family!

Hawkes got this darling first Christmas outfit from his adopted Grandma Judi and Aunt Molly. He loved it and looked absolutely adorable!
Apparently Mom has forgotten how to take pictures.
Baby also got a little stuffed Santa to go with his Christmas
outfit that was almost as big as him.
We spent Christmas with the Bush family.  Hawkes got held all day long and spoiled by all of his relatives.

Vogue...strike a pose

So Hawkes tried to be born with his hand by the side of his head.  We initially thought it might have been that he was stubborn like his parents and just wanted to make trip out of the birth canal a little more difficult.  Turns out he just likes to vogue.

So this is what being a parent will do to you.  Even though we are obviously not sleeping well, I am usually half naked and covered in milk or spit up, we are absolutely loving every minute of this baby.

Then there are these moments to add to it. Where you think it's going to be a simple diaper change and then they pee on you twice mid change and poo on every blanket in sight more than once. Makes life a little more interesting. With so much lack of sleep my first reaction is tears, but then you just look down and have to laugh at how great the situation is. I definitely think this kid has his dad's sense of humor from what I can see. But we still love him!
Our little guy is so very lucky to have 6 awesome aunties! This week two of them are having birthdays. Sorry Madi, I know you are the one who bought him this, but this week he is wearing this in honor of Auntie Cass and Auntie Jess! He hopes you guys have the best birthday ever. We all love you both and can't wait for you to meet him!

The cutest lady...

Although I gave my wife the unofficial title of most beautiful lady long ago, she received an official acknowledgment today from our church relief society president, who awarded her the title of most beautiful lady at our church.  I am very proud of Meg.  She beat out nearly fifty ladies over sixty.  She was also awarded cutest pregnant lady ever.  Although this award is also quite an accomplishment, it is a little less prestigious considering she was only one of about 4 women at our church who have not passed their menopause years.

Let the resemblance debate begin

So we have heard differing opinions about who this little guy looks like.  My opinion is he looks like Meg, and here is the evidence.

We have an ongoing joke that Meg cannot wink.  Looks like the little guy has similar struggles.

Here is a little side-by-side of Meg and Hawkes.

I'm pretty sure that everything this kid does is adorable. This might only be fun for his mom but here is 30 seconds of him hiccuping. Yes we are officially parents filming everything and taking millions of pictures!

Little Man Loves His Daddy

Birthing a child is one of the craziest and hardest things I have ever done, but to be home with these two boys is the greatest thing ever! Landon is the best dad and so great with little Hawkes. I am so lucky to have both of them. It has been a lot of work, but so fun. We both love to just sit and stare and him. I may be a bit biased bit I think he is perfect.

H. Ray loves his new room.

Although it was nice to be at the hospital where you just have to push a button and someone would come do things for you, the food was horrible, and we were ready to take the baby home.

He loved his elephant outfit and his car seat, and the car ride home.

So any of you who have been to our place know that the view is amazing, the decor however, not so much.

The baby' s room used to look similar to this, except for the velvet panelling was green and the curtains were gold.

With some help from Erin, we took down the horrible wallpaper, green panelling, and gold curtains and repainted.  The result is H. Ray's new bedroom area.

Little Hawkes Ray Potter arrives

H. Ray was born 12/08/10. He was 6 pounds 12 ounces, and 18.5 inches long.  He was birthed naturally (no epidural) at 6:46 am on Wednesday morning, after an hour and fifteen minutes of intense pushing (Meg was working on 4 hours of sleep in the prior 48 hours or so at that point), preceded by a good 10 hours of very active labor, preceded by a mere 3 days of mild to strong exhausting contractions, and only once or twice did Meg ask for clarification as to whether she was birthing a baby or dying.

He would not stop sticking his tongue out.  Apparently, not everyone was a big fan of this picture (above), and sadly it was one of his best ones.  We think its cute, especially considering the hours on end he spent in the birthing canal.
