Our roly poly baby Friar Tuck

Hawkes is getting so chubby.  He still wakes up every 2-3 hours to eat.  His cheeks jiggle when he sneezes.  And he is beginning to lose all of the definition in his muscles he had worked so hard to develop, that I mentioned in a previous post.  You can see from the picture below, he has no more neck, or legs.  He is just a chubby little roly poly ball of fun.  Our little Kevin Malone.

The baby has also been developing a new hair style.  It is actually an old hair style that he is working on bringing back into the main stream.  He hasn't had many followers as of yet, but he is sure that the "Friar Tuck" will soon catch on among the more hip members of our community.

Although I'm not sure he will look back on Friar Tuck hairdo with fondness, we all have our moments of faulty judgment.  So who am I to tell him it may not be a good idea?  That's what makes looking back and reminiscing so entertaining.

Like this hair...

...or these shorts...

...or these mullets...

...or either of these poses...
...apparently they were quite fond of this fireplace, and plaid.

The "baby looks like me" battle heats up

Hawkes looks older every day.  Although initially I thought he looked a lot like Meg, as he grows, I find myself looking at him and thinking I'm looking at myself as a baby.

We even make the same faces in pictures.

Here I am as a baby.

And here is little HR

Our Son is very talented

So as I mentioned previously, pooping can be a pretty rough experience for our little one. I thought I should share the process that we go through every day with you so you could really experience it. It usually starts early in the morning with something like the video below. He gets really mad about it and usually cries like a girl. He then decides that it is too much work and he'd rather just eat and go back to sleep. This usually then happens a few more times.

Finally once he has calmed down and decided he's ready to put in all the effort, we get a little something like this video below. If you would like to experience the full effect turn up the volume and listen for the minute long rumble.

The following photos really showcase my son's talents in the pooping department. After all that effort, this is usually what we get to enjoy. I'm still not sure how he gets most of it out of his diaper, but lucky us that he has mastered the art.

I might have the cutest kid alive

This is my new favorite picture of Hawkes. It was taken a few days ago on our walk. I really want to blow it up and frame it, but I am torn. Landon took the original and made it black and white and now I can't decide which one to print. Any suggestions?

Lucky Valentine

I might be the luckiest girl around. I am not usually a fan of Valentine's Day, but yesterday was the best one ever. I was lucky enough to have two Valentines!

Landon got me this card from a little bookstore downtown. It is actually an old postcard. I just love the look of all these old cards. What a thoughtful husband I have.

This is what my perfect Valentines Day looked like: Dominos pizza, Netflix, and cuddling with my two favorite people!

A mouse in our house, and a painful day

There is a mouse that currently lives in our house.  This mouse loves blueberry muffins.  However, as you can see from the pictures below, this mouse only likes to nibble the tops off of all of our muffins.  When confronted about this, the mouse claimed that it was because the tops of muffins were the only things this mouse could eat with one hand, while the other hand was holding a baby.  I assured the mouse that I have learned from experience that entire muffins can be eaten while using only one hand.

The other day, the baby received his 2 month shots.  The day started out fine, and Hawkes was happy to be able to hang out with both of his parents for the day.

For some reason, the baby likes to lick shoulders

Then when mom started crying, Hawkes knew something was up.

Before Hawkes knew it, he was laid out on a table with only his diaper on and needles being plunged into his thighs. He found this to be surprising and quite rude.  I think the part he found most disenchanting was that instead of comforting him, his mother stood there with a video camera documenting this torture.  Once he saw the camera rolling, he tried to put on a tough face and not cry, but you could tell he wasn't a happy camper.

In the end, the baby got three bandaids and was grumpy for a few days, but we think he has forgiven us.

So Strong

As you can see from the video in the last post, H. Ray is getting quite strong.  He is always kicking, punching and flailing around.  I think that is probably why he has such a chiseled physique.  He has noticed his new toned build as well.  The other day i caught him flexing in the mirror.  He just kept doing this, over and over again.  Before long he will have a faux hawk, and be wearing pointy boots, true religion jeans, and a tight Ed Hardy t-shirt on to show off his biceps.  Maybe his uncle Jeremy will lend him one of his t-shirts.

Apparently he was impressed with himself.  Not only is he getting stronger, but he is also getting just plain bigger.  We are getting to the point where we will have to start retiring some of his outfits that have served him so well up to this point.  It seems weird to already be needing to box stuff away because he can't use it anymore, but I guess everyone did warn us that they grow up so fast.  Here he is in his elephant outfit from the hospital until just the other day.

And this last picture was taken over a week ago.  Who knows if it even fits anymore.

So Proud

Hawkes rolled over! I know a lot of you have already seen this video, but I had to post it. He started rolling over about 2 1/2 weeks ago and I caught it on film 2 weeks ago. He is so strong. We are so proud of him, but hope he wont become too mobile too soon or we are in trouble.

Going back to work has been a bit of an adjustment and a little difficult. I do get to take him with me two days a week, but I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing. I love that he still gets to be with me, but it does make getting things done a little more difficult. I am getting much better at doing things with one hand though, especially typing. And then there are the days that I have to leave him. The first day I of course cried. The only thing that makes it bearable is knowing that he is in good hand with his Daddy. Below you will find a few father son moments that I have captured. Their favorite thing to do is lay around and sleep. I think that may have something to do with the sleep deprivation that is going on in the home. Landon usually gets woken up sometime between 5 and 7 to help our little guy poo. It's a pretty traumatic experience every time but he seems to be happiest when it's done with him. I think Landon is the poo whisperer, but I digress. Back to the point of this post, me and Hawkes are lucky to have him around. As you can tell from the photos below he sure does love his Daddy!
